Game 3: Pythons 4, Lightning All-Stars 3

Lightning All-Stars fell to 1-2 with a heartbreaking 4-3 loss. The boys jumped ahead 2-0 in the first half on the strength of great goal-keeping from Ben, and goals from Juan and Sergio.

Two quick goals by the Pythons knotted things up at 2-2, and then they put another one in, so the boys were down 3-2 with about ten minutes left. Ben tied the score up with just four minutes to go, and it appeared the boys would salvage a tie, but the Pythons scored with less than five seconds left in the game to win it.

The next game is on January 10.

Lightning All-Stars even their record at 1-1

Lightning All-Stars came away with a 12-0 victory against the Wildcats on Saturday, December 13th. Dylan led a balanced attack with four goals. Other scorers included Mateo (3), Jack (2), Ben, Sergio, and Juan.

The boys displayed impressive passing skills and hustling.

Next week's game is against the Pythons, 12:30 PM, on Saturday, December 20th.

Game 1: Lesmez Aces 3, Lightning All-Stars 2

12/6/08:

Lightning All-Stars scored first, 15 minutes into the game, when Sam put the ball into the net. The Aces struck back a couple minutes later with a goal, and the half ended 1-1. Several great saves from goalkeeper Juan.

The Aces struck twice in the middle of the second half before Sergio got one back for Lightning with five minutes to go. Despite a frenzy of shots, Lightning was unable to tie the game. Dylan did an excellent job in goal during the half.

Next game is at Barcroft on 12/13 at 12:30. Remember to wear sneakers or indoor soccer shoes - no cleats!

Season schedule and roster

This blog will document the winter league efforts of ten 3rd graders who play for the various "Lightning" teams of the Arlington (Virginia) Soccer Association in the spring and fall.
